SPVSX has become Community Kit for SharePoint Development Tools Edition, .

CKS:DEV has been formed as a merger of the SharePoint Dev Tools, SPVSX and Imtech Visual Studio Extensions projects. We are currently in the process of consolidating the code and will be providing an initial release of CKS:DEV shortly. Meanwhile, the individual releases can still be obtained for evaluation purposes using the links above.

The current release of SPVSX is targeted at VS2010 Beta and will have some issues running against the VS2010 RC

Project Description

The SharePoint 2010 Visual Studio 2010 Extensions project (SPVSX) is a collection of Visual Studio templates, Server Explorer extensions and tools providing accelerated SharePoint 2010 development based on Microsoft's new SharePoint 2010 development tools.

Alpha Release includes:

Visual Studio 2010 includes new SharePoint tools to aid development against the SharePoint platform. SPVSX aims to provide further enhancements to these tools including:
  • New item templates
    • Custom Action (basic)
    • Hide Custom Action (basic)
    • Custom Action Group (basic)
    • Delegate Control (basic)
  • Deployment
    • Restart IIS
    • Recycle app pools
    • Copy to SharePoint root
    • Auto GAC
    • Auto copy to root
    • Attach to worker process
  • Server Explorer extensions
    • Web part gallery listing
    • Import Content Type into current project (stub - full feature to come in beta)
    • Display Custom Action Groups (stub - full feature to come in beta)
    • Display Custom Actions (stub - full feature to come in beta)
    • Display Hide Custom Actions (stub - full feature to come in beta)

Project status

We have released the Alpha version of SPVSX which can be downloaded from here or directly into Visual Studio via the Visual Studio Gallery.

We're currently in the planning phase of the beta release. Should you wish to make suggestions please enter them into the suggestions.
